Saavn, India’s leading audio streaming service, today announced the exclusive release of The Beatles’ catalogue of 13 remastered U.K. studio albums and six essential collections, making the music of the legendary English rock band available for streaming for the first time on an Indian platform.

The Beatles’ music first became available through streaming services to much of the world last December. Today’s premiere marks the first time the group’s timeless music can be heard on an Indian app.

As the highest-selling international artists in Indian history, The Beatles also share a deep cultural bond with the country. Their stay in Rishikesh during the winter of 1968 influenced the members for the rest of their careers, while also shaping a number of songs from The Beatles (“The White Album”) and Abbey Road. Many of The Beatles’ most beloved tracks, including “Within You Without You” and “Norwegian Wood,” showcase Indian instruments like the swarmandal and sitar, while the iconic photograph of John, Paul, George, and Ringo sitting with the Maharishi remains an indelible image of pop culture.

Today is a landmark day for music fans of all ages in India, as the band’s legendary music becomes available on Saavn. The release of The Beatles catalogue will bring the group’s timeless music closer to Saavn’s millions of listeners in India, continuing a rich cross-cultural tradition and introducing their music to a new generation.

For Saavn, the premiere of The Beatles’ music will attract new users, especially rock connoisseurs. An ever-increasing number of music fans are switching to Saavn for affordable, legal and high-quality streaming, and the addition of these iconic albums will accelerate this growth.

Paramdeep Singh, Saavn’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, said, “I grew up listening to The Beatles, and have always felt a special link with them because of their famous love for Indian culture and music. I am thrilled, both as Saavn’s Co-Founder and, simply, as a music lover, that their unmatched sound will finally be available for streaming on an Indian platform.”
